Valleys and Hills
This is probably one of the most often quoted verses from one of the most recognizable psalms in all scripture. One of the things that we emphasize in GriefShare concerning this psalm is that we are to walk through the dark valley of grief. It is not a place in which to dwell. However, while this thought is helpful to cling to during the tough times on our journey, it should not be overlooked that this psalm was written by David, a man who walked with the Lord throughout his life. He praised Him from the hills and wept with Him through the valleys. This psalm, in its entirety, isn’t as much about grieving as it is about living fearlessly in the presence of God.
