TURN, TRUST, TUNE
This verse is often read at funerals or given to us by well-meaning loved ones when navigating some of life’s deepest waters. I am here to tell you that these words can ring hollow in the early days of heartache, even for “those who love him.” I didn’t care how God would redeem this tragedy for my good and His glory. I only wanted to feel His presence in my sorrow, to know He was weeping with me. Amid my darkest night, I did choose to TURN to God, TRUST, through tears, in His goodness and sovereignty, and TUNE my ear to His Word. I could hear His every whisper by following God so closely through the initial cacophony of doubt and fear. I heard Him proclaim His goodness even when life didn’t feel good. I heard Him proclaim His faithfulness when my world felt unstable. I heard Him call me Beloved Child, and I was comforted. I don’t think one can appreciate the pure truth of this verse except when perceiving it retrospectively while looking over your Father’s shoulder and seeing how far you have come as He continues to carry you in His arms.
God is GOOD ~ ALL the time!
