KISS
In my Julie-sized brain, I need to keep things simple. So my faith is pretty uncomplicated. I love Jesus! I want to become more and more like Him as I journey through this one life. That is my greatest desire. On my best day, I fail. Yet, I am offered the grace to get up and try again the next day. I do not read the Bible to become more religious; I read the Bible to learn more about the heart of God that is revealed to us through Jesus. I read to learn how God worked through faithful people who struggled in many of the same ways I do. Jesus was pretty straightforward; we are to love. We are to push aside pride, self-righteousness, and judgment so that we can LOVE! That is how we draw people to Him. And drawing people to Jesus is the only job I have found that I have been given. Following religious practices does not bring people to Jesus; loving people from that place in your heart where He dwells brings others to Him. God can work out all of the details. He is more than capable. That’s not my job. Keep it simple.
When I read this verse today, I was reminded of this quotation attributed to Gandhi: If all Christians acted like Christ, the whole world would be Christian.
Sounds like a plan; sign me up!
