I will…
In the previous verses of this psalm, the psalmist reveals that he feels utterly abandoned by God. He has received no comfort from his prayers. He can’t sleep or speak or even think. He is inconsolable. I think we can all relate to these feelings at some level. But what the psalmist does next makes all the difference in navigating the most brutal storms in life. He remembers the goodness and sovereignty and faithfulness of our God. He intentionally chooses to do this. It isn’t an automatic response; it takes everything he has to turn his gaze from all the pain he is feeling to what he knows to be the truth: God IS good and has always been good, even when life doesn’t feel good. I also know this to be true and will join him in declaring God’s goodness every single day!
God is GOOD ~ ALL the time!
