Feeling Small

Do you ever feel absolutely small in the presence of the Love of God; His love totally consumes you out of the blue and leaves you in a puddle. That has been the overarching theme of my week. Work has been incredibly sad and tough on many levels, but the Word of God has been whispering the Love of God to my heart in so many beautiful ways. As I pondered this, I remembered the first time I had the slightest glimmer of comprehension of God’s love for us. It was when I first became a Mom and was trying to wrap my head around the fierceness of the love I felt for Daniel. I remember at that time, it struck me that even that amazing love paled in comparison to the love our Father in heaven has for us. I left it there.
But this week, it hit me in a new and different way. Most every parent I know would willingly sacrifice themselves for their children. I have heard this spoken aloud at many bedsides when children face life-threatening injuries or illnesses—parents pleading to change places or take any punishment to save their child. I have never, EVER heard a parent offer their child in exchange for another. That’s the Love of God alone. That is what He did for you and for me. See? More puddles. I don’t know why that hit my heart so differently this week. So the verse today was no surprise!
(I am copying it here for the context of the surrounding verses:)
10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is made complete in us.
1 John 4:10-12
God is Love. Through Jesus, God lives within us. We reflect God to the world through the love we show to others. So LOVE real big today! God will show you how.
God is GOOD ~ ALL the time!
