Luke 6:28
John was very competitive when we played games, and we played a LOT of games through the years. In Ecuador, almost every scrap paper we could find was repurposed as a scorecard. Well, let me tell you, when John was winning, I knew it! My favorite thing to do was to lay down a 40-point word and grin smugly and tell him, “God doesn’t like cocky!”
So here I am today, feeling all comfortable and capable and on the right track, i.e., cocky, in my walk with Jesus, and BAM-YOW! This verse has to blow up my happy little world. And, of course, I had a recent patient encounter I could draw upon to remind me that I am a looooong way from walking this walk that I talk! My lips might have told my patient that she had a Father in heaven that loved her, but I am confident my eyes and the grip my hands held on her stretcher told another story!
Living out this verse is impossible without the guidance of, and surrender to, the Father, Son, AND Holy Spirit. It is only in His power that we can love as He loves us. So today, I am going to give thanks for the baby steps on this journey of transformation and the amazing grace I receive from my Father every single day!
God is GOOD ~ ALL the time!
