The Throne of our Hearts
The word that just jumped off the screen to me today was ALL—Love with ALL your heart, ALL your soul, ALL your mind. God doesn’t seem interested in merely getting our leftovers; the bit of love we have left at the end of the day after pouring ourselves out to the world. God wants to singularly occupy the throne of your heart, soul, and mind. This has always been a struggle for me. How to put God first in a world that demands to be first—family first, job first, pleasure first. As a list maker, this seemed hard for me. I could write God first, family second, etc., but realistically my life was not reflecting this order of importance. So I tried to think of God as being in the center of everything, but His throne started to look like the hall closet with everything just piled on top of Him; I still couldn’t see God. Then one day, when my new single-surviving-parent status became totally overwhelmed with worry, I just let go and surrendered my sons to God…and He took them in His arms. WOW! That was cool. God alone on His throne in my heart, holding my most valuable earthly possessions in His heart. When God is singularly occupying the throne of your heart, and you are in relationship with Him, your heart and soul, and mind can see Him more clearly. His voice whispers to your soul, and His wisdom lights your path through His Word. When you trust God with your everything and surrender it to Him, it ALL seems to work out perfectly, even the loving your neighbor part. And, for the record, God has very big arms.
God is GOOD ~ ALL the time!
